2010 Suzuki SX4 Crossover
This is a nearly new all wheel drive crossover with an automatic ECVT transmission. The car has 16,000 miles, about half highway and half city. The owner bought this new off the lot in October of 2010, so it has only been on the road for a little over a year. The owner is an ex-mechanic and has taken meticulous care of this car. At 500 miles the owner changed the oil to synthetic, and has used synthetic every 3000 miles ever since. The tires have been rotated twice and they have still got 80-90 percent of the tread.
The car is as clean as the day it drove off the lot. It has never been wrecked and has no significant dings or scratches. It has never had anything spilled in it and it has never been smoked in. The car has been garaged since the owner brought it home. It has been washed by hand at least twice a month and waxed four times. Between waxing detailing compound has been used after washing to keep the water beading off. The underside of the chassis has been pressure washed every time it has been washed. It is constantly vacuumed out and the interior wiped down. From day one there has been really nice, deep-pocketed floor mats in the car to catch all the debris off shoes. The back seat has two layers of mats; one goes all the way across and covers the transmission tunnel, and then there is another mat in each passenger foot wells. The rear cargo area has a Suzuki aftermarket rubber liner that fits perfectly and keeps debris off the carpet. It has had seat covers on the front seats from day one. The seats are in mint condition underneath. You will not find a cleaner used SX4.
There are also really nice accessories added to the car. The roof rack is sold by Suzuki; they look great up there and help carry all of your outdoor goodies. The trailer hitch is another great addition and has never been used to tow anything. It has been used for a hitch-mounted bike rack, but there are plenty of cool things you can mount to the hitch, including storage boxes for those extra long road trips. The hitch is a top of the line Curt model that is powder coated and not painted for long lasting good looks. It tucks up as tightly to the car as you can imagine, and offers some protection to the exhaust muffler. The owner installed a wiring harness for a trailer plug in. It is hidden behind the plastic trim in the rear cargo area and is a pricey plug-in type so there was no need to hack into the factory wiring. All told, the trailer hitch cost around 350.00 to put in. The owner installed the Suzuki aftermarket bra on the front of the car the day I bought it because it looks good and it protects the paint. One of the factory accessories is the auxiliary input jack on the stereo-you can plug you iPod or cell phone into the dash. Earlier models of this car did not come with this feature. The aftermarket accessories add up to about 750.00.
This is a great car to drive. There is plenty of room for four to five adults without being cramped but retaining the compact feel of the car. The front seats with armrests are very comfortable, and the dash controls are simple and intuitive. The drivetrain is where this car really shines though. The 2.0 has more than enough power. 150 horsepower in a car of this size is nothing to sneeze at. Part of the great driving experience is due to the fantastic transmission. This transmission is perfect! If you've never driven a CVT, constantly variable transmission, you are in for a treat. This car never shifts. It can constantly alter the gear ratio based on the load you are putting on the engine. This has many effects. Highway driving is great because the car is not switching gears the whole time while you're climbing hills. It also helps fuel economy because the car is always operating right in the sweet spot of its power band. The smooth acceleration and deceleration this car offers has be driven to be believed. It is awesome.
You can also take it out of automatic mode and shift it yourself using six pre-selected gear ratios. The Auto mode does such a better job at transmitting the power and keeping the engine operating where it wants to be. The owner has made use of the AWD, and cannot say enough great things about it. Driving around town the owner leaves it in Auto mode and the car can detect wheel spin and engage the rear drive axles. The owner has also been in snow a few times and put the AWD in Lock mode which will keep your wheels from spinning before the rear axles engage. It is a simple push of a button. The car handles very well on all road conditions, from bumpy gravel to high speed highway. The steering is very tight and responsive, and the braking is outstanding.
